"We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek." - Hebrews 6:19-20 ESV
I remember playing tug of war in elementary and middle school. Every year, at our field day activities, we would all look forward to the last event...TUG OF WAR! It was on that day that you were glad to have the biggest people in the class as they would serve as anchors for the team...holding the back of the rope and planting themselves deep within the ground. It looked on the surface, that victory was yours!
Without fail though, they would eventually become weak by the pull of the rope and their strength would give way to the stronger, more dominating team. Our hope was lost in the once strong anchor we thought we had.
I am encouraged that life is not dependent on me being the anchor or that my success in life secure in whether I am strong enough to stand up and take the pull of life. Rather, my life is secure in Christ. He is an anchor that holds steadfast, who NEVER ceases to fall short or weak and that has victory through his life and death on the cross. My hope, my victory, is in Christ!
When I am weak, HE IS strong! When I am confused and in doubt, HE IS able! When I am ready to give up and throw in the towel, HE IS my promise of eternal life! Christ is all things to us. Remember that your anchor is not in this life but in Christ and the life to come. Rest your anchor in the unmoving, unshaken, unfailing life of Jesus Christ and know that YOU ARE LOVED!
Remind someone today, who is in doubt, that their anchor is found in Christ, and Christ alone.
