On Sunday we learned how Nehemiah (Nehemiah 1:1-11) prayed over his people in Jerusalem and how his heart broke at the news of their defeated walls. It was his plea, before God, that someone would rebuild the walls and gates that fortified the city. Chapter One records the prayer of Nehemiah, to God, imploring Him to forgive his wrongdoing and to remember the promise.
"They are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power and by your strong hand. O Lord, let our ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants who delight to fear your name, and give success to your servant today, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man."- Nehemiah 1:1-11 ESV
Nehemiah trusted in God through his faithfulness and in turn God gave him the courage, strength, and means to begin reconstructing the walls of Jerusalem.
Where in your life do you need to put your trust in God?
Is it in relationships, possibly with your spouse or with a friend? Are you trying to manage these relationships on your own apart from communication with the Father? Go to Him today in prayer and ask that He hear the groaning of your heart. Ask Him to intercede on behalf of you and the other person and to mend relationships. God cares about you and He cares about our relationships with others. Give it to Him!
Is it finances? Has reckless spending and disorganization caused you to live in fear rather than being faithful to a God that gives all and provides all? Does the end of the month come and there is nothing left? Ask God to help you know how to organize your funds and to begin making the savings and spending of money a priority so that the day to day lifestyle you are living becomes a greater legacy of peace and prosperity for long term happiness and success. Make God the manager of your money!
Or is it in the relationship you share with Christ? If you have never made a decision to trust in God and to give Him complete control over your life, the hardships of this world will always leave you defeated and in a state of fear.
It's time to turn control over to God and to begin living by faith! Trust me, you'll be glad you did! :)
