Welcome to Awaken Church

Thank you for checking out our website.  We are glad you have taken an interest in our church and we look forward to meeting you on an upcoming Sunday.  Check out below the goals of our ministry and what we believe.  Welcome to Awaken!

The Goal of Our Ministry is to:

  1. Love God as a way of life – Worship (Romans 12:1-2)

  2. Love others as a way of life – Service (Mark 10:45)

  3. Love being a part of the church and understand their roles in the body of Christ – Community (Ephesians 4:4-7)

  4. Love the Bible, be able to read and understand it, and see the Bible as God authoritative Word and foundation for their lives – Scripture (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

  5. Love to tell others about Jesus (the Gospel) and share their own stories of faith in Jesus –Testimony/Witness/Evangelism (Romans 10:14-15)

  6. Love to have a deepening and growing relationship with God through daily time spent in prayer and in the Bible –Spiritual Maturity (1 Timothy 4:7-12)

What We Believe

The Bible - God Wrote It Through Human Authors

  • The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. We believe that God spoke the written Word through dual authorship through men. We teach a literal, grammatical, historical interpretation of Scripture

       (1 Cor. 2:7-14, 2 Peter 1:20-21).

God - God is the Almighty and the Only God

  • We believe that there is one living and true God and that He exists eternally in three persons – Father, Son, Holy Spirit – and that these persons are one in essence and therefore equally deserving of worship and obedience (John 4:24, Matt. 28:19).

God the Father

  • The first person of the Trinity, the Creator of all things and the only absolute and omnipotent ruler in the universe. (Gen. 1, Eph. 3:9). He is sovereign in creation and redemption. As Creator, He is Father to all mankind, but He is Spiritual Father only to believers (Rom. 8:14).

Jesus Christ (God the Son)

  • Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity and He represents full humanity and full deity indivisibly. (John 5:23, 14:9-10). Jesus Christ accomplished the redemption of mankind through His shed blood and sacrificial death (1 John 4:10). Through this, the believing sinner is freed from the penalty, power, and one day the presence of sin and that the sinner is now declared righteous before God, given eternal life, and adopted into the family of God. (Rom. 3:25, 1 Peter 2:24). We believe in the literal resurrection of Jesus from the grave thus conquering death for all who believe (John 5:26-29). We believe that Jesus Christ will return to receive the church unto Himself at the Rapture and that He will establish His millennial reign on earth (1 Thess. 4:13-18, Rev. 20). Jesus is the mediator between God and man, the head of the church, the coming King, and the final judge for those who do not put their trust in Him (Matt. 25:14-46, Acts 17:30-31).

The Holy Spirit

  • The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, coequal and having all the attributes of personality and deity. The Holy Spirit is the personal indwelling of God within the believer and serves as a guarantee of eternal life, counselor, teacher, illuminator of God’s truth, convictor of sin, bestower of spiritual gifts, and the empowerer of believers (1 Cor. 2:10-13, Rom. 8:9-11, Eph. 1:13, Acts 1:8).

Man - Created by God, Separated From Him Because of Sin, In Need of A Savior

  • We believe that man was directly and immediately created by God in His image and likeness. We believe that man was originally created free of sin but with the sin of Adam, man became subject to wrath. The fellowship enjoyed by man to/with God before the fall had been severed and man was now corrupted and unable to choose or do what would be acceptable to God. As a result of Adam’s sin, mankind is now depraved and unable to reconcile himself to/with God making it necessary for the intercession and work of Jesus Christ for the redemption of man (Ps. 14:1-3, Rom. 3:9-18, 23).

Salvation - How God Restores Relationship With Man

  • We believe that salvation is an act wholly of God by grace on the basis of the redemption of Jesus Christ and the merit of His shed blood and works, not the basis of human merit or works. (John 1:12, 1 Peter 1:18-19). We believe that once God saves a person, that person cannot lose their salvation and is secure in Christ forever (Rom. 5:9, 1 Cor. 1:4-9, Eph. 4:30, Jude 24).

The Church - The Ambassadors of God's Message of Salvation

  • We believe that the church is made up all who believe on Jesus as Lord according to Scripture (1 Cor. 12:12-13). We affirm that two ordinances are charged to the local church; baptism and Communion (Acts 2:38-42). We affirm that baptism is for believers and is by immersion (Acts 8:36-39) and, while it is a command for believers to be baptized, baptism is not a condition for salvation. We affirm that Communion is the remembering and proclaiming of Jesus’ death until He comes again (1 Cor. 11:23-32).

Angels - Created by God

  • We believe that angels are created beings and are therefore not to be worshipped. We affirm that holy angels are those that did not participate with Satan and rebel against God. Holy angels are created to serve God and to worship Him (Luke 2:9-14, Rev. 5:11-14). We also affirm fallen angels, of which Satan is a part as he is the author of sin and fell with 1/3 of the created angels who chose to follow him. We believe that Satan is the open and declared enemy of God and man who has been defeated by through the death and resurrection of Jesus and who will suffer eternally in the lake of fire (Is. 14:13, Matt. 4:1-11, Matt. 25:41, Rev. 12:10).

Last Things - What God Has In Store

  • We believe that physical death does not result in loss of consciousness, that there is separation of soul and body, and that the soul of the redeemed goes immediately to the presence of the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8), to be reunited with the body at the Rapture (1 Thess. 4:13-17). We believe that the souls of the unsaved are kept in punishment until the final resurrection judgment (Rev. 20:11-15).

  • We affirm the personal and bodily return of Jesus before the seven year tribulation (1 Thess. 4:16, Titus 2:13) to take His church from this earth and, between this event and His return, to reward believers according to their works done while in the body of Christ (1 Cor. 3:11-15, 2 Cor. 5:10).

  • We believe that immediately following the removal of the church from the earth (John 14:1-3), the time known as the Tribulation will begin (Jer. 30:7, Dan. 9:27, 2 Thess. 2:7-12).

  • We believe that after the Tribulation, Christ will return to the earth and assume the throne of David thus establishing the Millenial (1,000 year) reign on the earth (Rev. 20:1-7), overthrowing the Anitchrist and the false prophet, and removing Satan from the world (Dan. 7:17-27). During this time, resurrected saints will reign with Him over all nations of the earth (Ezek. 37:21-28, Rev. 19:11-16).

  • Following the Millenial reign of Christ, Satan will be released one last time and he will deceive the nations of earth to rise and battle against Jesus, the saints, and Israel only to be devoured by fire from heaven (Rev. 20:9). Satan will then be thrown into the lake of fire and all those who rejected Christ will be judged by Jesus (John 5:22, Matt. 25:41).

Eternity - God Reigns Forever

  • We believe that after the Millennium, the release and judgment of Satan, and the judgment of the lost, the saved will enter the eternal state of glory with God after which the current earth will pass away and be replaced with a new earth where the righteous will dwell (Eph. 5:5, Rev. 20:15, 21-22) and the Triune God will reign everywhere forever and ever (1 Cor. 15:28).
